GMPA Welcomes new member

The West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum joins the GMPA.

The GMPA is pleased to welcome its newest member association, the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM).

WAIMM, was established in 2012, to strengthen professionalism as a wider part of sustainability of the resources industry within the west African sub-region and beyond.  Key areas of focus include the enhancement of professional standards, providing exceptional leadership in science and industry and high-quality professional input into industry and society.

WAIMM, looks forward to their involvement, Lawrence Omari-Mensah, WAIMM’s Executive Secretary, said, “WAIMM is committed to demonstrating leadership in professional excellence and career advancement through innovative networking”.

The GMPA is a collaboration between the peak member organizations for minerals professionals around the world, providing leadership, promoting technical and professional excellence, upholding codes and standards, and providing opportunities for knowledge sharing.  Representing more than 55,000 minerals professionals globally, GMPA member associations are: 

Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (AusIMM), Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM), Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3), Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas de Chile (IIMCh), Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas del Perú (IIMP), Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME), the Southern African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (SAIMM) and the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM).
